Writers Ask Writers: An Introduction

PWFC author collage

Writing can be a lonely business.  As much as I love working from home and not having to brush my hair, I sometimes long to meet other writers who share this rather odd career path.  Perth Writers Festival gave me this opportunity.  I discovered that not only are there other writers living in Perth, but they are just as keen as I am to meet others.

Post festival, six of us met at Natasha Lester’s beautiful house and ate chocolate cake.  We decided to start our own blog series, Writers Ask Writers, to answer the questions that readers often ask.  The more writers, the more variety in our answers and experiences, and we hope we can give readers a broader view of the industry.

We’ll also be running some book giveaways.  The first one begins next Monday, and offers a chance to win a copy of every book all six of us have published: 12 in total!  Watch this space for more.

So, I believe some introductions are in order…

author-dawn-barker-aboutDawn Barker is the author of the newly published Fractured.  She is a Child Psychiatrist who grew up in Scotland, moving to Australia in 2009.  The novel deals with post-partum depression and is a riveting and absorbing read.

Amanda CurtinAmanda Curtin is a writer and book editor.  She has written three works of fiction: The Sinkings, Inherited, and most recently Elemental which is released on May 1st.  Looking forward to it.

Sara FosterSara Foster is the author of three novels: Shallow Breath, Beneath the Shadows, and Come Back To Me.  Originally from the UK, Sara moved to Perth with her husband, children and two cats.

Natasha LesterNatasha Lester is the award-winning author of What Is Left Over, After and the just-released If I Should Lose You.  It’s next on my to-be-read pile.  She has the most beautiful writing room ever!  I will also be running a sold-out course with Natasha on May 18th called Refine Your Manuscript.

AnnabelAnnabel Smith is the author of A New Map of the Universe and Whisky, Charlie, Foxtrot.  We did a great event together at the Perth Writers Festival, and I loved Annabel’s book.

The first blog post in the Writers Ask Writers series will be published next Wednesday 24th April!  The book giveaway goes live via Facebook on Tuesday 30th April.  Here are our Writers Ask Writers blog posts:
